Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week, everyone at Rotherham Hospice wishes to express our sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this time, and anyone affected by the death of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
As a Hospice, we often see and experience grief, and understand that it comes in many forms. The Queen’s death may have triggered stronger emotions in you than expected. You might question how we can grieve so strongly for somebody we didn’t personally know. The Queen has been a constant presence throughout our lives for 70 years, and so it is natural to find it unnerving and even upsetting now she is no longer with us.
You may find yourself more deeply affected. Witnessing grief on a national scale may remind you of your own personal grief for a loved one. It is okay to grieve both. Your personal grief is important too. However you are feeling, it can be helpful to try and express your feelings. Don’t worry what others may think, your experience of grief is unique to you.
Rotherham Hospice has cancelled the Sunflower Garden Party due to be held in the Hospice gardens on 17th September. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, however felt the event should not go ahead at this time as a mark of respect following Her Majesty’s death.
All Hospice services will continue as normal. For any queries, please call 01709 308 900.
