Inpatient unit
At Rotherham Hospice
Independent charity providing free of charge care
Our purpose-built, 14 bed Inpatient Unit offers expert care and attention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While our services are provided free of charge to patients and their families, we are an independent charity, and not NHS funded.
All 14 single rooms have ensuite facilities in the Hospice which have been furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard. This allows our patients to receive care within a homely setting where the focus is placed on the patient, not the illness.
For some of our patients, their visit is for a brief period while we monitor pain and control symptoms before they return home again.
For some of our patients where it is no longer possible for them to be cared for in their own homes as they reach the end of their lives, and for those who want to return to the Hospice in their final days, our inpatient unit allows them to receive the high quality care they need in a safe and comfortable environment.
Our members of staff are experienced in holistically assessing and treating patients with complex symptoms or end-of-life care needs, whether they be physical, psychological, spiritual or social. This also means that they are not only here to care for patients, but also to give support and care to family and friends and to communicate information and advice about a patient’s illness, symptoms, and treatment. They work very closely with other health care professionals and can refer to other services within the Hospice, community, or hospital as appropriate.
