Visiting Policy Update

visiting policy update

It is Rotherham Hospice’s aim to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all patients, staff, and visitors always. With the continued presence of Covid-19 we request you read the guidance outlined below:

Visiting times

  • Open visiting from 1pm to 7pm. Only 2 visitors per patient will be allowed in a patient’s room at one time.
  • Other visitors may use the café area whilst waiting to change over with other visitors already in the patient’s room.

End of life Care (EOLC) Patients

  • Visiting time is unrestricted for EOLC patients. Only two visitors are allowed in the patient’s room at any one time, this is to facilitate social distancing and keep staff, visitors, and patients safe.
  • When a patient enters the last hours of life, the nursing staff will permit up to 6 visitors in the room.
  • Other visitors may use the café area whilst waiting to change over with visitors already in the patient’s room.

Safety measures in place

If you have a positive test or symptoms of COVID-19 please do not visit the Hospice.

If a member of your household has a positive test or symptoms of COVID-19 please complete a lateral flow test daily for 5 days, do the test just prior to visiting.

If you test positive for Covid, we ask that you have two negative lateral flow device tests on consecutive days from day 5 & 6 onwards before visiting again.

On entering the Hospice, you will sanitise your hands with the gel provided and you must wear a mask at all times on the inpatient unit, unless indicated otherwise.

If you are visiting a Covid positive patient, before leaving the room to go home visitors should remove all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) except the mask, wash your hands, and then leave the Hospice. Please don’t use the Café facilities.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
