Rotherham Hospice has won the National Hospice Team Award at the national Palliative Care & End of Life Care Awards, with the hospice’s Inpatient Unit team named winners at the ceremony in London on 2nd July.
In a remarkable double recognition, the hospice’s Hospice at Home team were highly commended in the same category — a testament to the strength and depth of clinical care being delivered across Rotherham every single day.
The awards, hosted by television presenter Kate Garraway, celebrate excellence in palliative and end of life care across the United Kingdom.
Two teams, one mission
The Inpatient Unit (IPU) provides specialist, round-the-clock palliative care on the hospice ward on Broom Road, supporting patients and their families through some of the most precious and difficult moments of their lives. The Hospice at Home team delivers that same expert care directly into patients’ homes across Rotherham, enabling people to remain in familiar surroundings, close to the people who matter most.
While the two teams operate in different settings, they are deeply connected. Patients move between home and the ward as their needs change, and the two teams work closely together to ensure that care is seamless, consistent and always centred on what matters most to the individual. One simply would not be what it is without the other.
Built by our community. Here for our community.
Rotherham Hospice is an independent charity, providing free specialist end of life care to the people of Rotherham. The hospice relies significantly on the generosity of the local community to fund its services — and it is that support which makes care of this standard possible.
If you or someone you love has experienced the care of our Inpatient Unit or Hospice at Home team, we would love to hear from you. Your feedback shapes everything we do.
