Rotherham Hospice shortlisted for four national Palliative Care & End of Life Care Awards

Rotherham Hospice has been nominated and shortlisted for not one, but four national Palliative Care & End of Life Care Awards — a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of the dedication, compassion and professionalism shown across the hospice every single day.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in London on 2nd July, hosted by television presenter Kate Garraway.

Craig McKay — The Ancillary Worker of the Year Award

Craig McKay, Healthcare Support Worker at Rotherham Hospice, has been shortlisted for The Ancillary Worker of the Year Award. Craig was celebrated by Rotherham United at Christmas in recognition of the difference he makes to patients and families. As a Healthcare Support Worker, Craig plays a vital frontline role, providing day-to-day care and comfort to patients and supporting them and their loved ones through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Simone Parol — The Palliative Frontline Leader of the Year Award

Simone Parol, Clinical Practice Lead at Rotherham Hospice, has been shortlisted for The Palliative Frontline Leader of the Year Award. Simone supports and guides the hospice’s clinical teams, helping to maintain the highest standards of palliative and end of life care across all services.

IPU and Hospice at Home teams — National Hospice Team Award

Both the hospice’s Inpatient Unit (IPU) and Hospice at Home teams have been shortlisted for the National Hospice Team Award. The IPU team provides round-the-clock specialist care on the ward, while the Hospice at Home team delivers expert palliative care directly into patients’ homes, allowing them to remain in familiar surroundings, close to the people who matter most.

A message from our CEO

“To be shortlisted nationally in one category would be something to celebrate. To be recognised across four categories, including two team awards, is genuinely outstanding. It shows that the incredible work happening here in Rotherham is being recognised far beyond our local community.”

This is only possible because of you

None of this would be possible without the trust, generosity and support of our community. Every donation, every fundraising event, and every moment of feedback helps us deliver the kind of care that has now been recognised on a national stage.

If you or someone you love has experienced our care, we’d love to hear from you. Your feedback helps us continue to improve and shapes the way we support patients and families across Rotherham.
