Meet the team
At Rotherham Hospice
Our dedicated team
Meet our dedicated team who work very hard to look after our patients, their families and friends.
Head of patient and family support services
I have lived and worked in Rotherham all my life. I began my career with Rotherham Borough Council in 1987 until 2013 working in a variety of roles. I trained and moved into the Social Work profession in 2004. My areas of Social Work have included general Older People Services, Physical and Learning Disabilities and latterly Community and Hospital Older People’s Mental Health Services.
I have been employed by Rotherham Hospice since July 2013 as Head of Patient and Family Support Services. I love my role here and feel extremely privileged to be part of our patient and their families experience at such an emotionally challenging and important time in their lives. My role involves managing a wonderful team of paid and volunteer staff who provide adult and children’s pre and post bereavement support, nurse counselling, psychology and carer support services. I am also closely involved in the health and wellbeing day therapy services and supporting our chaplaincy service.
I am a real people person and enjoy socialising, music, theatre and dancing. In contrast I also have a love of quiet time, nature and the countryside. Spending quality time with my friends, daughter, the rest of my family and my dog are also very important to me.
Head of inpatient services
I qualified as a nurse in 1997 at Rotherham Foundation Trust.
After working 7 years on a Colorectal and Breast surgery ward, I moved to a secondment opportunity with the Palliative Care team.
In 2006 I started as a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative care. During this time I achieved my Masters Degree to enhance my knowledge and the care given to patients and families.
In 2012 I joined Rotherham Hospice as the Senior sister of the Inpatient unit, which has now developed into the Head of Inpatient and Day Therapy services. As well as Nurses and Healthcare Support workers, I manage the complimentary Therapy service and part of the Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy teams.
I live locally in Rotherham with my husband and two children and an assortment of animals!
I enjoy spending time with family and friends and doing activities with my young children. As a family we also enjoy foreign travel and holidays. I like to bake and have a keen interest in antiques and period collectables.
Head of hospice community services
Helen qualified as a nurse in 2002 and worked on ENT ward in Sheffield for 10 years before moving into palliative care.
Helen then worked at a Hospice in Newark where her love of Hospices grew.
She moved to Rotherham Hospice in 2014 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, moving to manage the Community team in 2017.
Clinical governance lead
Tracy qualified as a Nurse in 1981 and has worked at Rotherham Hospice since 2008.
Tracy initially worked on the In-patient unit until accepting the Clinical Governance Lead post and isnow responsible for overseeing the quality and effectiveness of patient care within the Hospice Clinical Services.
Tracy is married with two children and seven grandchildren which keep her very busy, and she is proud to be a member of the Hospice Team.
Barry has been Rotherham Hospice’s Facilities Manager since January 2016. Prior to that he has also been a Building Surveyor.
Barry is originally from a Security Alarms/Electrical Background but has been in a Facilities Management type role for (too) many years.
In his spare time, Barry enjoys playing golf, going for a walk or a run, and trying his hand at a bit of fishing.
