Make a Will month
with Rotherham Hospice
Make every day more meaningful for the people in our care
Since 1996, Rotherham Hospice has provided comfort, dignity, and exceptional care for patients and families during life’s most challenging times.
We support 14 patients in our In-Patient Unit and hundreds more in the community through our Hospice at Home team, yet 25% of those in need still lack access to palliative care.
To bridge this gap, we rely on fundraising for 40% of our income, with half coming from gifts in wills. Leaving a gift in your will ensures that everyone facing a terminal illness receives the care they deserve, creating a lasting legacy of compassion and support.

At any point in your life, a will ensures your wishes are honoured, providing peace of mind for you and security for your loved ones.
It is particularly important to make or update your Will when life changes, for instance if your financial or marital situation changes, if you buy or sell a house or if there is a new baby in the family.
- Choose who will manage your estate
- Ensure your assets go where you intend
- Help family to understand your wishes for your funeral
- Outline your intentions for children or dependents
- Leave a legacy that reflects your values.
Why should I leave a legacy gift?
A legacy gift is more than a donation, it is a deeply personal choice that captures your values, experiences and hopes for the future. Through your gift, you will be making a world of difference for our future patients and their families, reflecting your generosity and commitment to compassionate.
Supporting Rotherham Hospice through a legacy gift won’t impact your finances today but will make a lasting impact in the future.
Future patients and families will benefit from your kindness.
Every contribution helps provide outstanding end-of-life care.

Why Alan has left a gift to Rotherham Hospice in his will
Alan experienced first-hand the profound impact of Rotherham Hospice when his wife Jan spent her final days there, following a difficult journey with oesophageal cancer. What started as a brief stay became ten invaluable days filled with kindness, dignity, and peace. Deeply moved by the exceptional care they both received, Alan described the hospice as feeling “like the Ritz.”
His experience inspired him to leave a gift in his will, ensuring this vital support continues for other families in their moments of greatest need.
Key things to know about writing a will
It’s important to have a will, no matter the size of your estate.
Currently, 73% of people in Rotherham die without having a will. To be certain of what will happen with your assets when you die, the best option is to write a Will.
Writing a Will and leaving a gift doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive – we would always recommend visiting a solicitor to write your will, but you can always use our free will writing service to make a standard Will.
