Make a Will month
with AHJ Wills & Estates Ltd
Make every day more meaningful for the people in our care
This March, we’re inviting you to take part in Make a Will Month with Rotherham Hospice.
We’ve partnered with AHJ Wills & Estates to offer supporters the opportunity to write a simple will for free in exchange for a donation to the hospice. It’s a practical step that gives you peace of mind — and helps us continue adding more life to every day for local people facing a terminal illness.
Book your appointment
Contact AHJ Wills & Estates directly to arrange an appointment. They will talk through your wishes and explain the will options available.
Two-week cooling off period
After your appointment, you’ll have two weeks to decide whether you’d like to proceed and confirm you are happy with what AHJ can offer.
Make your donation
If you choose to go ahead, you’ll make your donation.
- £100 suggested minimum donation for a basic will
- £150 suggested minimum donation for mirror wills
This allows us to process your donation correctly and thank you properly.
We notify AHJ
Once your donation is received, we notify AHJ and they begin the will-writing process.
Why make a will?
A will ensures your wishes are honoured and your loved ones are protected.
At any stage of life, having a will in place provides clarity and reassurance. It becomes especially important when circumstances change — if you marry, separate, buy or sell a home, welcome a new child, or experience changes in your financial situation.
Making a will allows you to:
choose who will manage your estate
ensure your assets go where you intend
outline your wishes for children or dependents
share your preferences for your funeral
leave a legacy that reflects your values
Currently, 73% of people in Rotherham die without a will. Writing one is one of the simplest ways to protect the people and causes that matter most to you.
Why Alan has left a gift to Rotherham Hospice in his will
Alan experienced first-hand the profound impact of Rotherham Hospice when his wife Jan spent her final days there, following a difficult journey with oesophageal cancer. What started as a brief stay became ten invaluable days filled with kindness, dignity, and peace. Deeply moved by the exceptional care they both received, Alan described the hospice as feeling “like the Ritz.”
His experience inspired him to leave a gift in his will, ensuring this vital support continues for other families in their moments of greatest need.
Why leave a gift to Rotherham Hospice?
As an independent charity, we rely on fundraising for around 40% of our income — and almost half of that comes from gifts in wills.
Since 1996, Rotherham Hospice has provided comfort, dignity and exceptional end of life care to local families. We care for 14 patients in our In-Patient Unit and hundreds more in the community through our Hospice at Home team. Yet 25% of people who need palliative care are still unable to access it.
A gift in your will:
costs nothing now
won’t affect your finances today
could help ensure everyone facing a terminal illness receives the care they deserve
Even a small gift makes a meaningful difference.
Stay connected and let us thank you!
If you have chosen to leave a legacy gift in your Will, please let us know. We want to make sure you are kept up to date with news and events at Rotherham Hospice and we want to make sure we can show our appreciation for your incredible gift right now.
