Job Title:                                    Head of Fundraising & Communications

Working Hours:                         37.5 hours per week (Part time hours will be considered)

Salary:                                        £35,000-£45,000 per annum

Responsible/Accountable to:  Chief Executive

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Fundraising & Communications at Rotherham Hospice. We are seeking a creative, innovative and flexible individual with strong communication skills and the capability of building and developing relationships at all levels.

The Rotherham Hospice is a registered charity and is the only adult hospice for the people of Rotherham and surrounding villages. ‘Our vision is that all Rotherham people will be able to live well and receive excellent care in the final stages of life’.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Management team and will contribute to corporate strategy and decisions regarding fundraising and communications.

The specific remit of the candidate is to:

  • Develop the Fund raising Strategy for the Hospice in-consultation with staff and service users
  • Work effectively with colleagues to achieve the Hospice strategic and operational goals
  • Lead and direct the operations of fundraising, communication and associated activities to meet income and expenditure targets in all areas of fundraising income.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to fundraising and communications ensuring compliance with Hospice and external policies.
  • Develop and implement a coherent and effective fundraising strategy
  • Drive existing and develop new sustainable income streams including, developing corporate income, legacies, community events and applications for grants
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and organisational development.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of the Charity sector or related business experience.
  • Knowledge of direct marketing principles and practice.
  • Knowledge of project/event management principles and practice.
  • Experience in Event Management
  • Previous experience of generating income through events
  • Proven experience of meeting targets, both financial and non-financial
  • Experience of direct marketing
  • Experience of digital marketing and of using social media to promote events
  • Experience of post-event evaluation
  • Full UK Driving Licence & Use of own vehicle

It is also desirable that the successful candidate has a relevant degree, such as Events Management or Marketing.

Salary:                                   Equivalent to A4C Band 8a – (pro-rata £40,028-£48,034)

The purpose of Rotherham Hospice is to enhance the quality of life of patients and those important to them through the provision and coordination of specialist palliative care services and education. The Hospice is committed to achieving this by providing or influencing services for patients during the changing phases of their illness.

We aim to give the most appropriate and efficient treatment and care to our patients through a holistic approach, to assist in the relief of their physical and emotional suffering and to help them lead an acceptable, purposeful and fulfilling life in their home or in the Hospice.

In order to achieve this we offer a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led multi-professional service, which integrates the Hospice specialist palliative care services with primary, secondary and tertiary health care services, other voluntary and independent agencies and social services.

To ensure we continue to do this to the best of our ability, and to ensure the correct level of leadership and direction across our inpatient services, we are looking for an enthusiastic senior nurse to take on the role of Head of Inpatient Services.

The purpose of this role is to provide clinical and managerial leadership across the hospice Inpatient Unit. Therefore, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Head of Inpatient Services to lead and co-ordinate the provision of high quality, effective care that is safe, free from unnecessary risk and promotes personalisation, privacy & dignity. You will need to demonstrate clinical excellence and expertise in palliative care nursing, displaying a sound understanding of symptom management and holistic support.

The post holder will also be required to provide visible clinical leadership across the multidisciplinary team ensuring the provision of high quality care to patients and their families in the hospice. This will also involve ensuring rota and on call cover, skill mix and personal and professional development is achieved safely and timely.

The wider role provides the opportunity to be an active member of the Senior Management Team, working collaboratively to evolve services and influence organisational change in response to local need and national policies. This role also requires the post holder to work collaboratively with other local, regional and national health and social care providers and commissioners to ensure that services are “Fit for purpose” by engaging in research and clinical audit to ensure good evidenced based practice.

The successful person will have significant post registration experience and other relevant experience in palliative care and or service management. Ideally you will have some experience of working at a senior/SMT level.

Rotherham Hospice is a registered charity and is the only adult hospice for the people of Rotherham and surrounding villages. “Our vision is excellence in care for all those throughout Rotherham who are affected by a terminal illness.”

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Events & Community Fundraiser at Rotherham Hospice. We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic individual with proven experience in fundraising and/or working with community groups. The successful individual will need to be a confident presenter and communicator, and have experience of the Hospice/ Charity sector.

Working closely with our current Events & Community Fundraiser, the role requires someone to become part of the Rotherham community, looking after and identifying our volunteer Hospice Champions, ensuring collection time are changed in a timely manner, supporting community groups, helping people achieve their fundraising ambitions and being an ambassador within the community getting people engaged and involved with the work of the Hospice. This role crosses over to supporting with the key fundraising events, responsible for the project management and delivery of a comprehensive programme of existing events as well as establishing new high profile events in order to take our internal fundraising to a new level.

The Hospice needs to raise over 2.5million of charitable funds annually, to maintain services not supported by statutory funding. Could the role of Events & Community Fundraiser be for you?
