Remembering dad this Father’s Day

Memory tree remembering dad

Remembering Dad on Father's Day

Father’s Day can be a bittersweet occasion if you have lost your dad or father figure. While the day serves as a reminder of the void left behind, it is also a chance to cherish the memories and honour your dad who was so dearly loved.

Though he may no longer be physically with us, his influence and legacy continue to inspire and guide every day.

As Father’s Day approaches, remembering dad and celebrating his life can help keep him close in your heart. You could visit a place that was special to you both, watch his favourite film or sports team play, or cook a meal he would have loved.  A leaf on the beautiful Memory Tree at Rotherham Hospice is another special way to  remember your beloved dad.

By dedicating a leaf to your dad on the Memory Tree, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are facing end-of-life journeys, and help ensure that other families receive the same compassionate care and assistance that meant so much to you.

You can easily come and visit the Memory Tree in the reception area of Rotherham Hospice.

On this Father’s Day, let us remember and honour the dads & father figures who have passed away, celebrating the lasting legacies they have left behind.

Guide to Gift Aid

Guide to Gift Aid

Guide to Gift Aid

One of the easiest ways you can make your money go further for Rotherham Hospice is by Gift Aiding!

Research shows that up to a quarter of eligible donations didn’t use Gift Aid, meaning Rotherham Hospice misses out on £1000s that could fund vital end-of-life care for our local community.

We’ve found, over the years, that not everyone knows what Gift Aid is, and how it works, so we’ve put together a Guide to Gift Aid.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid logoGift Aid is a tax relief allowing UK charities to reclaim an extra 25% on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer. That means, for every £1 you give, we can claim an extra 25p in Gift Aid from the government at no extra cost to you!

There are some restrictions on what can or can’t be Gift Aided.

Yes to Gift Aid:

  • You make a monetary donation from your own funds AND have paid UK Income and/or Capital Gains Tax during that tax year.

No to Gift Aid:

  • You’re making a donation in return for something e.g. a raffle, physical Christmas cards or signing up to an event.
  • You’re making a donation on behalf of someone else or a group of people. For example, collections at funerals where money has come from multiple people or a donation in memory of someone.
  • You’re making a donation on behalf of a charity. You can only make Gift Aid claims on your own taxpayer status when spending your own money.
  • The donation is more than 4 times what you have paid in tax in that tax year.

For example, if you paid £100 in tax, you can donate up to £400 and Gift Aid your donation, meaning Rotherham Hospice would receive £500, at no extra cost to you.

How do I Gift Aid my donation?

When you come into the Hospice and donate, please let us know if you’d like to Gift Aid your donation. On your receipt, there is a Gift Aid form which we can fill in and apply to any future donations you make to the Hospice.

When you donate online, there will be an option to apply Gift Aid when you enter your payment details.

If you have donated to the Hospice recently and want to request that Gift Aid is applied to future donations, please call 01709 308900.

You must also tell us if you stop paying enough tax to qualify for Gift Aid.

Rotherham Hospice cares for families experiencing an end-of-life illness, both physically and emotionally. As a charity, Rotherham Hospice needs to raise £3 million each year to fund vital end-of-life services and we can only do it thanks to our amazing supporters like you.
