Rotherham Hospice Warriors take on Total Warrior 2018!
17th July 2018
As we all enjoyed a warm summer day back in June, Rotherham Hospice’s own Dr Katie Flint, along with Lee, Garbrielle, and Lee – The Rotherham Hospice Warriors - put their training into action and took on the obstacle-laden, mud-filled course of ‘Total Warrior’.
Stretched over 12km, and featuring a gruelling 25 obstacles, Total Warrior has a festival-like atmosphere at the beginning and end, with music, food and drink, and crowds cheering on those taking on the challenge throughout. Climbing huge walls, and crawling through deep mud, it’s a challenge that requires mental as well as physical training leading up to it.
Self confessed ‘hopeless at running’ Katie told us she had never done anything like Total Warrior before. The Hospice Warriors have spent the past few months training, and despite being out of their comfort zone, Katie and the team completed every obstacle across the entire 12km course, and raised over an incredible £720 for the Hospice in the process. And that’s not all… the average finish time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Rotherham Hospice Warriors smashed it in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
“It was such a good feeling crossing the finish line…. The final km was the hardest bit! But the day was so diverse and fun!” Katie tells us. She also tells us she’s considering doing it again next year! For an event that was out of her comfort zone, we could not be prouder of Katie and the team for such a fantastic achievement and for exceeding her £500 target and raising over £720 for the Hospice!
A huge thank you to Katie and the team!
