Christmas 2018 at Rotherham Hospice
20th December 2018
From hundreds of Santa’s dashing around Clifton Park , to our Sunbeams Christmas Party with lots of face painting and decoration making…. Rotherham Hospice has had a very busy festive period!
We began Christmas with a wonderful Christmas Market at Carlton Park Hotel. Decorations, a Santa’s Grotto, a variety of festive treats, our very own Christmas cards, mulled wine and mince pies… and a very special performance by members of the Rotherham Symphony Orchestra, had everyone in high Christmas spirits, just in time for Santa Dash the weekend after!
Santa Dash… if you’ve never been before, you’re missing out! Hundreds of fellow Rotherham-ers dressed head to toe as Santa, dashing around the grounds of Clifton Park raising vital funds through sponsorship. A warm up to begin, a performance by the choir, mulled wine, mince pies, Santa’s Grotto, a Christmas Market, and much more. Santa arrived by vintage bus with our lucky raffle winners, and proceeded to start the Dash. All in all Santa Dash was a wonderful success, and we look forward to next year…. Which we’re already planning… with some exciting new additions!
Christmas has taken over our retail shops! On your way past, you’ll see some of the best dressed shop windows in Rotherham! We recently held a competition for the best Christmassy shop window, and the winner was….. Dinnington Shop! Pop down to Dinnington to see the victorious shop window! Browning Road came a close second…. Creatively using the REAL Santa as a shop window display!
The ever brilliant Hospice choir has been out and about performing songs such as Jingle Bell Rock, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and We Wish you a Merry Christmas across Rotherham, and recently raised over £300 performing over two nights.
The Hospice was treated to a visit from Rotherham United Football players this December. The team had photos, signed autographs, and had a laugh and a joke with patients and families, and brought joy to the Hospice.
We have been wonderfully overwhelmed by the amount of Stars of Remembrance that you have all sent in for our Christmas tree in reception. The tree is full of your beautiful words of remembrance dedicated to loved ones for Light up a Life. The two accompanying services in the surroundings of Rotherham Minster & Rotherham Hospice brought the community together to remember & to celebrate the lives of our loved ones. Thanks to all of your support, Light up a Life raised over£18,000 for the Hospice.
And it’s not over yet!.... You can STILL get your 2019 calendar and diaries from our online shop, delivered straight to your front door…. Click here … to buy now.
None of this could have happened without our amazing volunteers, and supporters. On behalf of all of us here at Rotherham Hospice, thank you for your continued support over the year..... we wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a wonderful new year!
