Tree of Life arrives in style at the Hospice
15th October 2015
Following a frantic few weeks of activity our Tree of life designed by artist Steve Mehdi was finally planted in its permanent home in our grounds this morning. The three ton sculpture in stainless steel was collected from Newburgh Engineering in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside at 8am and began its journey to the hospice travelling through Sheffield and turning many heads along the way. It then made its way along a specially laid temporary roadway on Herringthorpe playing fields and was then craned up in to the air, over our hedges and onto its newly built foundations under the guidance of Steve and Jane. We are delighted that the tree is finally with us and that we can offer such a special way for people to remember their loved ones at the Hospice. Our Head of Fundraising, Colin Cawood-Campbell was interviewed on BBC Radio Sheffield recently, along with Scultpor, Steve Mehdi, and Sandra Robinson who purchased a bark panel on the tree in memory of her husband, Chas. You can hear the interviews on the link below from 1:11:00
