Jane Blythe has dedicated a light in memory of her Mum, Doreen, for the last 2 years.  She finds great comfort from attending the Light up a Life event here at the Hospice, and is delighted to launch this years events for us.

Jane tells us: "The Hospice has always had a special place in all our hearts and we still support it as much as possible.  I really enjoy the Light up a Life event at the Hospice – celebrating the lives of precious people, surrounded by love and support. It is such a great comfort being in the place where Mum spent so many happy hours and made some wonderful friends. A massive thank you to everyone at Rotherham Hospice”

Rotherham Hospice invites you to join Jane this year to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one, or to honour someone special in your life, by dedicating a light and supporting this year’s Light up a Life Campaign.  The campaign is open to everyone, not just those touched by Hospice care.  Christmas is a time when we all remember our loved ones, and Light up a Life provides a focus for families and friends to remember in a variety of different ways.

When you make a donation to Light up a Life, we will send you a Light up a Life card bearing the name(s) of your loved ones.  Your dedication will appear in our Book of Lights which will be available to view at the Hospice during December and early January, and also in a feature edition of the Rotherham Advertiser.  The book of lights can also be viewed at our two Light up a Life events.

The first of our events takes place in the grounds of Rotherham Hospice on Saturday 5th December at 4pm.  This will feature the switching on of our Christmas lights and your Light up a Life stars can also be placed on our Light up a Life Tree. Our second event is at Rotherham Minster on Sunday 6th December at 4pm. This service of remembrance brings us together to remember loved ones through music, the reading of poems, and the lighting of candles. To give us an idea of numbers, it would be helpful if you could indicate on the dedication form which event you will be attending.

Your donation to Light up a Life will help us to deliver care to those in Rotherham affected by a terminal illness.  This care helps patients, their families and carers achieve the very best quality of life and personal experience, both at home and in the Hospice.  Your support of this campaign makes a real difference.  Thank you.

Dedicate a Light
