500 runners took part in the 2nd Rotherham Hospice Colour Assault onSunday 20th September, at Hesley Wood Activity Centre, Chapeltown.  The colour run with a difference saw participants crawling under scramble nets, climbing hay bales, tackling a water slide and wading through foam.  All of this whilst also running through five colour stations where they had brightly coloured paint thrown over them.

Runners of all ages took part in the Colour Assault, which was kindly sponsored by Haybrooks Estate Agents.  The event started with entertainment from Funky Dance Fever, before runners took part in the Zumba warm up led by Lisa Roberts.  Overseeing proceedings was Charlie Graves from The Advertiser, who managed to leave the event without a single splash of paint on him!

As runners crossed the finish line they received their medals as reward for their achievements.  Then the colourful finale took place, with a final explosion of colour from the colour fountains.  There was an amazing party atmosphere as the rainbow of coloured powder rained down over everyone.

Hospice Head of Fundraising, Colin Cawood-Campbell explained “The Colour Assault is a fantastic event for all the family to enjoy.  Everyone has had a fantastic time, and it’s been a great spectacle to see.  It’s great that people can have so much fun whilst raising money for Rotherham Hospice”

Runner Pat Jarvis, from the Homestead in Rotherham, said “We had a fantastic day and would recommend it to anyone who likes a laugh! I would like to thank everyone for their donations; I managed to raise £114.68.”
