Our services are registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. It’s purpose is to make sure that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high quality care and encourage providers of care services to improve.
Our latest CQC report was published in October 2016. Below is our response to its findings along with a link to the press release we issued.
We welcome feedback from external experts. We are always looking to improve our services and our ultimate priority is the experience we give to patients and their families. Rotherham Hospice now provides 24 hour seven day a week care and supported over 1,590 individual patients and their families last year.
The report highlights two key areas for us to improve further on; storage of medicines and on personalised care planning. We have taken the inspectors comments on board and we have already worked to address them The inspection was in August and we are confident that if the inspectors were to return they would see the continual improvements to practice that we have made to our services.
We are entirely confident that we have a high quality and safe service for all our patients and families. We are pleased that the report highlighted that our services were much loved by our patients and their families. People who used the service and their families felt that they were supported by caring staff who, treated them with dignity and respect. People and their relatives told the CQC that they felt the way staff responded to their needs was ‘Excellent’ and ‘Second to none’.
We will continue to work with our partners, such as NHS Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group and other Hospices, to identify best practice in Hospice Care. We aim to be regarded by CQC as an ‘outstanding’ Hospice in future.
