What does the Day Hospice do?
Our Day Hospice Unit offers support for people who are facing life threatening illness and have palliative care needs.
The support we provide is wide ranging and includes:
- Emotional and psychological support
- Monitoring of pain and other physical symptoms
- Providing nursing care
- Advice on practical issues and concerns
- Access to complementary therapies, hairdressing, and chriopody
- Opportunity to take part in creative and social activity
Our emphasis is on improving quality of life and promoting independence and autonomy.
Who will I meet at the Day Hospice?

- Palliative Care Nurses and Support Workers

- Volunteer Hairdresser
- Chaplains
- Occupational Therapist
- Physiotherapists

Volunteers play a vital role in helping support the multi-disciplinary team to achieve a warm, friendly environment.
When is the Day Hospice open?
Our Day Hospice is open Monday to Friday and offers care for up to 15 people per day; we have the capacity and resources to accommodate people with mobility and other requirements.
How can I access the Day Hospice?
Following referral to the Day Hospice, a member of our dedicated nursing team will visit you and your family at home to carry out a full assessment of your current needs. We will discuss with you the services that are provided by the Day Hospice and, if necessary, advise you in the involvement of other agencies in the provision of your care. We are happy to liaise with doctors, district nursing teams, and others to facilitate your care.
