Give a special gift and make a big difference to someone’s life:
A legacy or bequest is the term used to describe when a gift is left in a will, and without the past generosity of individuals The Rotherham Hospice would not have been able to develop and extend its facilities and services to their current level.
Many people do not want to think about making a will and are put off by the thought of expensive legal fees but if you don’t there is no guarantee that your wishes will be carried out when you die. In many cases the process can be very straightforward and not as expensive as you think.
Without a will your family, loved ones and friends may experience problems as they have to make decisions on your behalf. Making a will can secure the future for your family and loved ones.
Making a will:
Once you have ensured your loved ones have been provided for, please consider leaving an amount, no matter how large or small, to The Rotherham Hospice. As a registered charity, The Rotherham Hospice is exempt from tax so we receive the full amount of your bequest. Any monies left to us may help reduce inheritance tax on the remaining amount.
Changing your will:
A codicil is an addition to your will that shows the changes you wish to make. This is a legal requirement and as such requires specific wording and must be witnessed. The addition of a codicil is a simple way for you to leave a legacy to The Rotherham Hospice.
Patients who have been cared for by us often choose for donations to be given to Rotherham Hospice instead of flowers at the funeral and this request can be stated in your will.
Previous bequests to The Rotherham Hospice have enabled us to:
- Continue to provide excellent palliative care to patients in Rotherham who are living with a life threatening illness
- Keep up to date with new techniques
- Develop new methods of treatment
- Maintain the existing hospice site
