Organise your own Event

Where to start? A step by step guide…

What?

First things first, decide what fundraising event you want to hold. Why not share your ideas with friends, family, colleagues or even form a committee? Make sure it’s something that people would like  to take part in and would be happy to  give you their full support.

Who?

Have a good think and speak to those around you about who may like to help organise the event. Allocate roles and tasks so everyone is clear on what they need to do. Decide who your target audience is and how best to attract them to your event.

How?

Think about the practicalities and what needs to be done. Create time lines and action plans to help you organise effectively and efficiently. Don’t be afraid to share the work load with others that are happy to help-just remember communication is the key to a successful event.

Where?

Decide on the venue; make sure you check its ok to hold your event there. Think about the things you may need at the venue like chairs and tables, where will you get these from? Is there any cost involved or can you get things donated? Think about the people coming to your even and their transport needs.

When?

Think about all the things that could potentially have an in pact on your event; like the weather for instance. Also check when your volunteers are free to help.

Promote Plan and Prepare

Plan and Prepare

The more time you have to plan the better! Think about your target audience and how you can contact them. Make sure your message is kept clear, key messages are date, time, location and contact details and why you are raising the money. If you need more information from us get in touch!

Promote

Think about free places to advertise, for instance school or work notice boards, local shops and community centre’s, doctor’s surgeries remember to always seek permission first.

Design an eye catching poster. Always make sure that you publicise the money is “in aid of the Rotherham Hospice” , if you would like to use our logo please speak to us first.

Promoting your event online

Think about your own facebook site and creating an event. You could email details of your event to family, friends and colleagues. There is also the JustGiving website which might be useful.
